Biggsville Board Hires New Clerk

The Village of Biggsville Board met June 3, with Mayor Eric Craig calling the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. 

The board approved May minutes, bills, and the treasurer’s report. Trustees praised the new flags along Main and Church streets, which will fly through Labor Day. Mini flags will be added for the 4th of July and Labor Day weekends. 

Street patching begins next month, three new hydrants will be installed soon, and the mower and tractor are undergoing service and inspection. One building permit was issued last month. 

Playground equipment was evaluated but cannot be fully assembled as-is. In old business, the village completed its switch to QuickBooks Accounting on May 1. 

For new business, the board hired Tricia Keever as Deputy Clerk at $20 per hour to replace retiring Judy L. Gravgaard, thanking Judy for her years of service. The board voted to change payroll services to ADP. 

Officials will explore new trash collection options for city owned proprieties after issues with LRS. Gmail accounts will continue to be used for village email communications following a proposal from Drake Hardware to create official accounts. 

Mayor Craig shared details from the latest Henderson County EMA meeting and plans to attend the next one. Proposed appropriations were presented for review ahead of the July meeting.
