On display at the Henderson County Museum is a pair of boots worn by Adoniram Edwards in the “March to the Sea” in the Civil War in 1864.
Sherman's March to the Sea (November 15 – December 21, 1864) was a pivotal Union campaign in the American Civil War led by Major General William Tecumseh Sherman. Departing from the captured city of Atlanta, Georgia, on November 15, 1864, Sherman marched 62,000 troops 285 miles to the coastal city of Savannah, which fell on December 21.
