As of March 30, Hillary Peterson assumed ownership, of Laila’s Bar & Grill in Stronghurst. Hillary, who has been an integral part of the Laila’s team since its inception just 15 months ago, shared her joy and gratitude in a touching announcement on Facebook. “A dream is a wish that will come true,” she wrote, reflecting on how far she has come.
“If you would have told me 15 months ago, when I decided to join the Laila’s team, that this same amazing team would become My team—I would have replied, ‘when dreams come true.’” She credits the original owners, Jesse Smith and Shayna Smith, for paving the way and entrusting her with their “labor of love.” Without their continuous support, Hillary emphasized, this opportunity, and the continued service to the small-town community, would not have been possible. “Thank you for trusting me with your labor of love!”
The transition is bittersweet for the Smith family. In their announcement, Jesse and Shayna explained that with their growing family of four children, Shayna’s health issues, and commitments to two other businesses, their time had become too stretched to give Laila’s the full attention it deserves. They expressed deep appreciation for the community’s warm welcome and support over the past 15 months, as well as for their exceptional staff, who have been the backbone of the business.“We are confident that you will extend the same warmth and support to Hillary that you have to us,” they wrote. “We look forward to witnessing the impact she will undoubtedly have.”
Operations resumed on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., giving Hillary time to handle last-minute details. Hillary made it clear that while her face and name may appear more often around the business, she doesn’t work alone. She praised her “hardest-working husband,” and supportive extended family, who have helped push her to new heights. She also highlighted her “new family,” the dedicated Laila’s staff, as one-of-a-kind.“We have all laughed, cried, and bonded our way through the start of a brand new journey, and I can’t wait to see where we can take it from here!” Hillary shared.
True to its roots, Laila’s promises to remain the same beloved spot locals know and love, with a personal touch. “We will always be, ‘the same Laila’s you love… just a little more personal now,’” Hillary noted. With deep family roots in Henderson County, Hillary feels honored to raise her own family in such a supportive community while continuing to serve favorites made with love. “This,” she concluded, “is My dream come true.”
Patrons can expect the same great food and friendly service, now infused with Hillary’s personal passion and vision for the future.
Congratulations to Hillary Peterson on this exciting milestone, and best wishes to Jesse and Shayna Smith as they focus on their growing family. Here’s to many more years of Laila’s Bar & Grill serving as a gathering place for Henderson County residents and visitors alike!
