La Harpe Science Olympiad Advances To State

On Saturday, February 21st, the La Harpe Eagles from the La Harpe Community School competed in the Illinois Science Olympiad regional competition on the WIU campus in Macomb, Illinois. They competed in a total of 23 events throughout the day, placing in a total of 18 events.
In Dynamic Planet Easton and Adley placed 3rd, in Circuit Lab Lukas and Jamie placed 3rd, in Water Quality Daedrick and Aaliyah placed 2nd, in Mission Possible Madelyn and Aubrie placed 2nd, in Experimental Design Aimee, Easton, and Cody placed 3rd, in Rocks and Minerals Madelyn and Adley placed 4th, in Potions and Poisons Aaliyah and Daedrick placed 4th, in Heredity Carson and Aubrie placed 4th, in Boomilever Madi and Jamie placed 2nd, in Disease Detectives Aimee and Bridgette placed 1st, in Helicopter Nathan and Madelyn placed 2nd, in Write It/Do It Carson and Cody placed 3rd, in Crimebusters Aimee and Lukas placed 1st, in Meterology Carson and Cody placed 4th, in Metric Mastery Lukas and Aubrie placed 3rd, in Machines Aimee and Bridgette placed 4th, and in Entomolgy Jamie and Nathan placed 3rd.
They competed against seven other B Division 5th-9th grade teams throughout the region and they placed 3rd overall. The La Harpe Eagles will advance to the state Science Olympiad competition at the University of Illinois campus in Champaign, Illinois on Saturday, April 18.
They are all very excited to be returning to state again for the third time and they will be prepared for whatever comes at them.
