LOCAL AND AREA NEWS: Mrs. Grace Fulton arrived from Garden City, Ks., to attend her sister's wedding. C.H. Curry, Silas Salter, R.W. Upton, M.E. Beardsley and Wilbur Dougherty went to the river on a hunting expedition. David Nevius, vice-president of the Union Exchange National Bank of New York City, visited J.E. Amerman and wife. The Wever-Media Academy legal fight occupied some of the attention of Judge Waggoner in circuit court. A bill for an injunction, restraining the Wever heirs from prosecuting their suit for ejectment of the trustees of the academy from the property, was filed by Attorney Safford.

J.W. Rankin left for southwest Missouri to look after his apple crop on his farm in that section. Judge Robinson's family have returned from Chicago where they have been spending the summer. Lyman Fort, who is at the State University at Champaign, has won a place upon the team of six students who will represent that institution in the inter-state oratorical contests this year.
