December Is Sneakin' InDessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher-Owner
1 December 2004
It seems like the snow, cold weather, and now December snuck in to our area overnight. Wasn't it just a few days ago that we noticed people raking yards, riding bicycles, roofing houses? But now it is time to put away the bikes, and get out the winter coats and the warm scarves and mittens.
There is only 24 days until Christmas and already I see a lot of wonderful folks doing good deeds to help the less fortunate.
There are collections for the food pantries and a mitten and hat tree at Union Elementary School by their Student Council.
At La Harpe Jr. High their student council sponsored a Hunger and Homeless Awareness week. Prior to Thanksgiving, they collected food for the La Harpe Food pantry.
Now, the La Harpe Firemen have planned to use donations at their annual community Christmas dinner to help with the expenses of Samantha Shaner Lionberger after her serious car accident.
Churches and clubs are planning for cards and gifts for nursing homes, shut-ins, and those in the service of our country.
And there are just good deeds of good neighbors.
December snuck in, but it brings more warmth than any other time of the year.
