Union-Southern Soon To Be United

After the overwhelming vote for consolidation Tuesday, everyone is pretty much in agreement that it is time Union and Southern gets rid of the Mason-Dixon line for a united school in Henderson County.

It's an historic day for Yankee and Rebel fans and the first thing on the agenda Lonnie Brent said will probably be naming the school.

Already, one suggestion came into The Quill from a rural Stronghurst resident that felt U. S. Patriots would be a perfect name.

Of course everyone can have fun making suggestions. I wish to commend those who helped educate us on all the issues and give our support to the new board members in helping keep the public informed of the transition and changes as they are made.

To students of Southern and Union, I hope you will look for the positive, remembering you are not giving up friends, but gaining new ones along with greater educational opportunities.
