Still Feeling The Warmth

Dessa Rodeffer-Quill Publisher-Owner

I haven't been to Hawaii, or Jamaica for a vacation but I'm feeling the warmth of a wonderful weekend right at my own back door. It's not what you think, a new greenhouse or heated pool, though I have been spellbound with the beautiful fall colors of my trees, mums and burning bushes that the cooler weather has caused.

No, the warmth has been generated by seeing the area's compassionate people. ...compassionate for the love of the land at harvest... compassionate about the love of the animals they care for... compassionate about the care of things from yesterday such as the old Opera House and the foot-stomping banjo music of old favorites. But, the biggest heat wave was from our independent farmers, their wives, and friends who stopped in the middle of a busy harvest, and without a thought, harvested the Shaner crops. Another surge came from veterans and auxiliary's salute for our soldiers in the National Guard, soon to be deployed to Iraq. All that giving has sent warmth. Do you feel it?
