It seems that each year my September calendar gets busier. It is not only the time of year that school begins with all its activities, but also the time we celebrate a few holidays and community festivities.
The dramatic and emotional day of 9/11 makes us more aware to stop and salute those hometown heroes in our land, as well as all those of us who labor daily, helping to keep our country prosperous and free.
The addition of Patriots Day to the calendar is a good reminder of how blessed we are in America.
With all the fall activities , there is no reason for anyone feeling like there is nothing fun, adventurous, or educational to do in our area.
A few of the things going on this month was The Olde Tyme Farm Show-Stronghurst, Biggsville Lions Labor Day cookout, Ft. Madison, Iowa Labor Day parade, Galesburg National Stearman fly-in where more than 100 Stearman biplanes land and their owners love to talk about how they were used to train pilots during WWII and other bits of history.
Ft. Madison, Iowa's Famous Tri-State Rodeo was held in Ft. Madison, IA. And now we head into pre-election activities for the Nov. 2nd Election, including consolidation questions for our kids.
All I can say, is it doesn't seem to be letting up, so keep that calendar open, and the car gassed up. It's a busy time of year.
