Good-byes Can Be Hard

The death of a loved one is hard, no matter what. We have lots of questions and wonder if we can go on with life at times.

I found comfort in the words of Pastor Bruce Goettsche of the Union Church in La Harpe when I read his church e-bulletin last night. When hardships come we must struggle to hold to the truth rather than be overwhelmed by emotion.

He said, "Emotion is fickle:truth is sure."

"God is Sovereign. He is in control and He knows what He is doing."

"God is Good."  Even though bad things happen, we must trust that God has a good purpose for allowing such things . . . .even though we may never understand. We must hold on to the truth that God loves His people and keeps His promises.

"God is perfect . . . He never makes a mistake. As we rest in these truths we...can weather the storms and remain a vibrant witness until our final moments leading to Heaven.

"So, take some time today to remind yourself often of the truths that God is in Control, God is Good, God loves us, and He never, ever, makes a mistake."

Thank you Pastor Bruce for these reminders.
