I know not everyone is a Chicago Cubs fan but for those of us who are, it is a very exciting time to see our team in the National Pennant race.
The Chicago Cubs are known for having the most loyal fans - win or lose and they consistently pack in the crowds at Wrigley Field.
We have been kidded about "next year" so often that it's hard to believe we actually have the opportunity to make it to the World Series.
Ninety-five years is a long time to keep-up-the faith that someday - we are going to do it.
It has been especially emotional with former Cub and favorite Cubs radio announcer - Ron Santo #10, in ill health at this time.
Having lost both legs to diabetes and now looking at an operation for a tumor this week, Santo still says he is hopeful to be through the surgery and recovered in time for the World Series.
It was more than I could take last night when he was told over the phone that his teammates had gotten a #10 Cubs uniform and had it in the dugout to represent that Santo was with them.
Fans were encouraging everyone to wear wrist bands with the #10 on them as well.
Even Pat, who announces Cubs games with Santo had gotten a #10 Jersey to have in the announcer's booth with him. Santo has never given up on the Cubs and now, more than ever, the Cubs and their fans want this win for Santo more than for themselves. They just have to go the distance.....and so does Ron Santo.
