Ag In A Farming Community- Makes Senseby Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher

I commend the Southern School Board for reversing their decision with regards to the school's ag program.
Working with the students and community members toward the common goal of seeing the agricultural program continue to flourish rather than diminish just makes sense in a rural community.
Also, the recent formation of the Southern FFA Alumni Chapter should serve to strengthen the existing student chapter and assist in increasing its membership.
The community is fortunate to have board members who are willing to work with them, and who have a good grasp of the area's heritage as well as a vision for its future.
Continuing to exercise good stewardship of the school farm and building on the planned improvements initiated by former Southern FFA sponsor and Ag instructor Natalie McGrew just makes good sense.
With grant money being more readily accessible now than ever before for projects such as building ponds, planting trees, and landscape renovation, now is the time to pursue such opportunities.
Let's keep the momentum going in the right direction. We've come too far to let go now.
