After receiving letters and phone calls on SB 1195 The Daley Gun Ban and HB 2532 Statewide Gun Registration and HB 2356 Gun Show Ban, I telephoned State Representative Rich Myers (R) and State Senator John Sullivan (D) on their views.
Representative Myers assured me that he "stands firm against any bill that will take away a person's right to protect himself or to hunt." "People need not call me on this issue for I stand firm against these bills," he said.
Senator John Sullivan said in reference to SB 1195, "I'll be opposed to this bill that would take guns away from law abiding citizens. I believe in the right to own guns for legal purposes.
"Chicago does have a problem with assault weapons, but it is not our problem here and I'm not going to support it." Sullivan said he would also be opposed to HB 2356 and HB 2532 as well.
