Be Somebody's Valentineby Dessa Rodeffer, Publisher/Owner
12 February 2002
There's an advantage to being somebody's valentine, especially if you like chocolate. I'm guessing someone like Mr. Hershey, Mr. Hallmark or the FTD florist invented the day.
It's a far cry from the stone age days when young cave men would bang a girl over the head and drag her to his cave.
We've come a long way baby... though some are sure we have a ways to go before all men understand the rewards of pampering his valentine.
It was Dr. Dobson's special radio guest last week on WDLM that talked about the differences in male and female.
Women, he said, just want to be put on a pedestal and made feel like she's the most important thing to her man. "They are great lovers," he said.
Men, on the other hand, want to be admired for their work and their place in society and in their home. They need respect and admiration.
No matter how much we try to be alike, God has definitely made male and female different. I don't think it means we don't share responsibilities. But, I think it means our need for approval are shown in different ways.
So, be someone's valentine. Give them what they really need, not what you really need. If you show great admiration and respect for your man or treat your woman like she is your Queen, you just might be returned sevenfold with a spouse that keeps on giving, way past Feb. 14th. It's worth being a sweetheart!
