I just finished a wonderful book by Thomas and Nanette Kinkade called "The Many Loves Of Marriage." The book brings a lot of insight into the nostalgic paintings of Thomas - the acclaimed "Painter of Light".
As I read how Thomas and Nanette first met while on his paper route, I also learned of his longing for a home filled with love, laughter and family. His only parent was a single mom who worked long hours to provide for them. On his paper route, Thomas could see the many homes with lights inside and could imagine the warmth of family there.
In his book, Thomas explains the importance of a husband and wife creating a safe haven from the world, and working together to stay connected. He and Nanette talk not only of the relationship with each other but of their strong faith.
The book was loaned to me by a very good friend who I feel has a home with this same warm feeling. Many times I stop for some warm tea, good conversation, and to help her put a Thomas Kinkade puzzle together.
Thomas writes in one of the final chapters, that it is important to be a beacon of hope for others, a light to help them find their way or lead them out of darkness. One of his famous paintings is "A Beacon of Hope" and is inspired by this concept.
If you are looking for a good gift, anniversary, birthday, wedding, or just for a friend, I highly recommend this book. Make sure you check it out for yourself as well. It just might light your way to eternity.
