Spring Into Action

Now that we have set our clocks up an hour - we can spring into action for there is a lot to do.

Besides taxes being paid by the 15th, landowners who can gather enough money together can invest in the marketing side of their corn.

Actually, even if you are not a corn grower, this could be a good investment according to all the coverage in the news on Ethanol.

Farmers working together can do a lot.

Like the speaker from South Dakota said, "It takes many craftsmen working together to build a great barn, but "it only takes one jackass to kick it down."

In the March 14th Southwestfarmpress.com periodical, a columnist in his article "Ethanol offers control over products" said the demand is ever present but- "The big question is who will own the plants, farmers or conglomerates." The U.S. currently imports 57% of its energy needs and soon it will hit 60%. Demand will double in the next five years, and it will triple by 2012 according to a Washington report. The question seems to be, who's going to profit from it, the farmer or someone else?
