Behind The Scenes

Did you realize that the greatest things could not be accomplished if there weren't someone "behind the scenes" doing "the insignificant things," or taking care of the minor details that are so important to a successful plan?
Why do we sometimes see ourselves as insignificant to the plan of life?
Did you know that Dude Bundy's small garden plot at Oaklane "Care Center" produced enough to feed all the residents at the nursing home fresh tomatoes during the growing season as well as everyone a meal of cooked cabbage seasoned with bacon?
Did you also know that nursing home residents, through the adopt-a-grandparent program, give young children the mature love and encouragement that is so important to a growing child.
It is what we classify as "the little things" that are so important in life, not always the big things.
At the Rebel football game Friday, a time-out was called by the opposing team and I heard their coach as he walked out ask, where's the water boy, bring the water, he shouted. It was so important to the coach that his guys got water during the hot contest.
Monday night, I left my car turned on "accessory" while I worked until midnight and it was the deputies who saved me with a quick start from their jumper cables. It was so important to me to at that late hour but probably seemed insignificant to them.
In watching the movie about President Harry Truman, Monday, I was impressed by the portrayal of he and his wife, Beth. She felt insignificant to him, but he said he needed her.
In the end as he took her hand when they went back to Independence, Missouri, she said, "You've always been there for me, Harry."
She meant, in the "little things," such as his letter to a columnist who had publicly criticized his wife's singing.
At The Quill, there are dozen of things people do to make the editor look good. To each who help behind the scenes - it couldn't be done without you. Thanks.
