Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

Company was coming, the fair was on, a HUGE limb fell out of my oak tree beside the driveway, the rabbits ate my $40 worth of flowers I had just planted, the rain is bringing up all the water grass and my shrubs need trimmed...and we're out of bread and milk, again!

Why is it, the soap is out when I get in the shower, and someone took the last wash cloth, and I'm the only one who changes the light bulbs and the paper towels.

No wonder I'm in the bathroom squeezing the Charmin. It's better than squeezing someone's neck.

As I was making my grocery list again wondering why, when no one ever shows up for dinner anyway, I saw another out of place item on my counter top.

It was last month's Readers Digest purposely rolled backwards and opened to an article that my husband undoubtedly thought I should read. It was entitled: "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff."

Now, if he thinks small stuff is watching trees grow out of my down spouts at work because they haven't been cleaned, then I guess he is right. I have been working up a sweat.

There are so many home things to keep up with, and then to add work, it is impossible to keep everything in the kind of condition we would all like them to be in.

Frankly, I think Dr. Jerry Jochims' wife, Deb, had a very good idea. She hung a sign in all of her husband's patients rooms which said, "Help Wanted For Honey Do List"

It said something like: Since Jerry is so busy with patients and working on his Elk farm he has not had time for his "Honey Do" list. So she was asking for applicants. When Dr. Jochims came into the room, I asked him if this was a joke. He laughed, but said, "No. My wife needs the help.

She thought she'd be funny and put these in my office, but I really wish someone would apply."

I grabbed an application and gave it to my son and he called her. She hired him and he has enjoyed the employment doing everything from staining decks to cleaning the garage and yard work.

So, if anyone out there wants to help me not sweat the small stuff by helping me out with tree removal for starters, give me a call. I won't sweat near so much.
