Never Give Up!

What I learned from attending the Northwestern/La Harpe Thunder football game Saturday at East Dubuque was "Never Give Up."
As you can see by the two scoreboards in the 4th quarter, a lot happend in
9 minutes of
play.
The reward was television interviews of another goal that was accomplished and a perfect record of 13-0. Of course, I'll have to say the fans, never gave up on the Thunder either. That's just as important.
"When the going gets tough, the tough gets going," but that doesn't always mean you will win. It does mean the game will be a lot closer, the top of the hill won't be quite as far away.
It seems impossible at the start, but with everyone pulling in the same direction, coaches, teachers, fans, businesses, every player on the team, parents, brothers and sisters, the impossible can be reached.
What happens if we fail?
At least it won't be from lack of trying, or from giving up. We won't have defeated ourselves.
I think that is one of life's lessons you learn from a well coached team.
First, the coach doesn't give up. It starts there. Then it becomes catching until each team member learns his lesson.
When I've heard Coach Bavery the most frustrated with a player at Southern, it was because he thought they gave up, or didn't try their best. He calls them on it immediately, and it's a lesson to everyone within shouting distance.
As I watched
Thunder players being interviewed by Quincy television, I heard lead Quarterback
Jenson Jones explain, "We didn't give up!"
They gave 100% all four quarters and it was in the 4th they felt a victory brewing.
Endurance paid off from being prepared but mainly from no one giving up. No one left at half time and coaches were working 100%.
Now, the goal is the State Championship. Continue your winning ways. Don't give up!
