It Takes 21 Days

Well here we have it... a brand new year and a blanket of snow and sub-zero temperatures to go along with it.

I do like the winter's glistening snow. They say the freeze is good to kill germs and with the flu season upon us, it is good to know that just maybe, the freezing weather might actually be a blessing in disguise. At the same time though, it can bring tragedy for those driving on snow and ice, so please be careful.

Since our paper was printed extra early last week it gave me a chance to fly to Eaton, Colorado between Fort Collins and Greeley and enjoy my daughter's family Darci and Dan Ericson and their delightful children Gracie-10, Lydia-9, Levi-7 1/2, and Judah-6 and oldest grandson Matthew, his wife Caitlin and great grandson Elijah (4 months). It was so much fun!

We all attended their church in Greeley, the first Sunday of the year. Their minister challenged us to a fasting for the next week, not only to clear our bodies of the over stuffing we did at Christmas, but mainly to focus on "One Thing-God" and his purpose in our lives.

It takes at least 21 days to create a habit or to break a habit I am told. So, I decided when I arrive back home, I would try my best to focus on what God's purpose might be for me while fasting or giving up some types of food for 21 days.

Change is hard for most of us, but necessary in order to kick some habits that are not healthy for us or in God's plan. They may be hampering us from a healthy productive life.

One thing we have, is the ability to choose, so I am hoping that 21 days of focusing on just "One thing-God" and his Word-will help me make some changes for the better in 2015.

I invite you to join me.
