La Harpe City Council

The La Harpe City Council met on Monday, July 28, 2014 at La Harpe City Hall.

Auditor Greg Butler was with the council to discuss the audit done in June. The General Fund is under budget in several areas and all in all everything looks good.

Council members Mike Bennett and Todd Irish were absent.

The metal sign outside of the museum was knocked down sometime Saturday night. It is being looked into to get it fixed.

City Wide Clean Up

City Wide Clean Up is set for Friday, October 17th. The next Supervisor s meeting is set for August 4th at 4:00 p.m. A public works meeting will be afterwards. A street light is out on the corner of South 5th street and 3rd avenue, Ameren has been contacted.

Someone will be contacted to clean the weeds up by the water plant uptown.

There has been a question brought to the council for a family that lives out at Timberview by the cemetery. They would like to build a garage and use the cemetery as an entrance to it. There was a motion to use the cemetery for cemetery traffic only and not as a thoroughfare.

More illegal waste has been dumped at the burn pile, a load of lava rocks from someone s landscaping was seen at the pile.

Schedule changes have been made for the police department. Council members agreed to raise part time officer Mike Norris pay from $12.48 to $14.00 per hour. City attorney Kurt Dittmer and Mayor Brown are working on trying to get something done with the Ayerco building.

The car show is this Saturday, August 2, 2014. A brand new 2015 Camaro Z-28 will be there, only 300 of them were manufactured. Also there will be the bagpipe band again this year, the Civil War re-enactors will have their cannon again. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

The next city council meeting will be held on Monday, August 6th, 2014 at the La Harpe City council.
