Meet Your Neighbor Shane Reed of Stronghurst, born in Davenport, IA and raised in Eldridge, IA.

He graduated from North Scott High School in Eldridge in 1992. Shane was active and enjoyed many sports including basketball, football, baseball, track, and wrestling.

He received a 4 year electrical apprenticeship from a trade school, did maintenance at CBG Twomey Group, was employed at 3E Electrical Equipment in Burlington, IA; worked for Gene Ray Services, and recently purchased Crandall Tire building from Don Crandall and Gene and Teresa Fox to open up his own business which will be called, Shane Reed Electric LLC.

At his business he employs four additional people besides himself and specializes in electrical, heating, and cooling. He is busy serving the Henderson and Warren County areas which includes 24 hour emergency service.

Shane married Stronghurst native Mary (Hartman) in 1996. They have 2 children, Braeden (14), a freshman at West Central, Mady (11) a 5th grader, and have recently adopted Stacia (9), 4th grade, and in the process of adopting her brothers Aydin (6), 1st grader and Jack (5), kindergarten. They all attend West Central Elementary.

Mary is the Director of Head Start in Monmouth which serves Warren, Henderson and Knox counties.

Shane's parents are Mary Reed and Leo Reed. Mary lives in Smithshire, is dad Leo resides in Clinton, IA.

Shane is presently involved with the Henderson County Fair and serves on the board as the secretary.

Their family enjoys the annual Foresman family reunion held in June at the fairgrounds in Stronghurst.

He also enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling with his son who plays baseball and pitches on a traveling team out of Springfield, and his daughter on a traveling softball team.

Vacations are mostly traveling to Texas to see family.

Shane's favorite saying is, "If you can't do it right the first time, it's not worth doing at all."
