Local Girl Scouts Camping Weekend

The La Harpe Girl Scouts spent the weekend camping at Chic-A-Gama. Camp Chic-A-Gama is at Springlake and is ran by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 169.

Chic-A-Gama was once owned by the Girls Scouts, with many of the older local girls camping there as scouts, sleeping in the bunk house and using the stone lodge for activities.

The 16 girls and 6 adults that camped this last weekend, set up tents since the bunk house is no longer useable. The girls and adults enjoyed archery on Saturday morning with the help of Jason Holt who gave the girls a lesson on archery, in the very hot sun. Each girl made their own picture frame for their group photo.

Each girl took a turn at cooking, setting up for a meal, and cleaning up. They went hiking, enjoyed a scavenger hunt, some free time to play, and sat around the campfire and watched an outdoor movie under the stars while eating s'mores and banana boats.. On Saturday night the group went to Macomb to see the Balloon glow. Even though it was hot as they tried to sleep at night, everyone enjoyed themselves and are ready to go again next year.
