Water Color Reflections, Kelly Eddington

Art Exhibit Opens At Madden Arts Center

A former La Harpe resident who now lives in east-central Illinois in St. Joseph, has a watercolor exhibit coming up in Decatur which opens on Friday, August 9 from 5-7 p.m..

The Decatur Area Arts Council invites the public to enjoy the August exhibit entitled Watercolor Reflections in the Anne Lloyd Gallery of the Madden Arts Center at 125 N. Water St. in downtown Decatur. The exhibit features the paintings of artist Kelly Eddington from St. Joseph, IL.

The opening reception for Watercolor Reflections will be held on Friday, August 9 from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center. Eddington will speak at 6 pm. Hors d'oeuvres will be served. The reception is open free to the public.

An award-winning art teacher of seventeen years, Eddington creates a better than photorealistic effect in her paintings. Her still life and portrait paintings are highly detailed, up close and personal with her subjects. She achieves an almost unbelievable reflective quality through her colorful treatment of glass and the effects of light on surfaces. Her portraits come to life because each environment reflects the personality of the people she paints.

The exhibit will be open to the public from August 7-31. The gallery hours are from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 10 am – 2 pm. For more exhibit information, contact the Decatur Area Arts Council at 423-3189 or check the website at www.decaturarts.org.
