Meet Your Neighbor

Meet your neighbor Laurie Myersâ of La Harpe. She was born in Monmouth, and raised in Roseville.

Laurie is the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth Anne Stevenson. After, her mother passed away, Paul married Janet Killey. Her dad was a Principal, coach and teacher at Roseville and her mom was a coach and teacher at Roseville as well.

Laurie graduated from Roseville High School in 1975 and graduated from Western Illinois University in 1979. She also did graduate work at WIU.

She has one brother Michael. Michael and his wife Sara live in Pasadena, California. They have a two year old son Riley, and a baby girl, Ella who is to be born on August 9th, 2013! Michael is a coach at Cal Tech University.

Laurie has been married to her husband Rod, since April 11, 1981 (32 years). Rod is originally from Media, now partially retired from Hometown Insurance Center of La Harpe and is a land surveyor.

Laurie and Rod have two children, Jason, 29 and Mariah, 22. Jason and his wife Brittany live in Springfield, Illinois. Mariah attends Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

Laurie took early retirement in May from teaching at La Harpe Elementary, since student teaching in 1979 with Mrs. Pat Boyer.

Laurie's previous employment includes running a recreation program in Roseville, and she was a waitress and clerk at Randolph House in Macomb.

She has been on many memorable vacations.

She has been to Germany, Switzerland and France as well as Colorado, California, the East Coast and Green Bay.

Laurie and Rod enjoy football and are avid Green Bay Packers fans.

Laurie is proud that she taught in La Harpe her entire career.

Her hobbies include raising Golden Retrievers, and Paint Horses, photography, golfing, reading and gardening.
