Meet Your Neighbor

by Christy Kienast, The Quill

Meet your neighbor and Illini West Senior, Holly Jones of rural La Harpe.

Holly was born on May 1st, 1995 in Jacksonville, Florida. She is the daughter of Layton and Sara Jones.

Layton works as a pipefitter and also has DCMX Tracks, a motorcycle track and Sara is an RN in the OB department.

She has one brother, Dominic, 18. Dominic works at the Witches Rib BBQ outside of La Harpe. Dominic is mostly known for his awesome guitar skills.

Holly's grandparents are Peg and Gary Webster and Lynn and Jeanne Jones all of La Harpe, and Marty and Dianne Roberts of Green Cove Springs, Florida.

Holly has been active during her high school career. She has been in the Key Club, International Club, and the volleyball team. She is also on the WYSE team and the Robotics team at school.

She is very involved with the Christian Church; right now she is working as the Student Ministries intern. Holly also attends the high school youth group, CORE 413, and Bible study on Monday nights. She is part of the Student Leadership team whose goal is to help lead our peers.

On Wednesday nights, Holly is the leader at the junior high youth group, Cornerstone 411. Holly has always enjoyed helping with the junior high volleyball team, but since she works at the church after school she didn't get to help much this year.

She loves to play volleyball. When she isn't at school she is usually serving in some way at her church.

She also likes to read and run. Her new hobby is slacklining and she hopes to do it more this year. Holy also loves to read.

Holly remembers most family trips as going to motor cross tracks with dad or going to Florida. She always loved going to Florida because she got to see her grandma and the ocean was always "a plus"!

Later in life, Holly hopes her trips will be for world missions. She would love to go on a mission trip to Africa, Mexico or any other needy country.

Her most memorable high school moments were the volleyball times with her friends. Winning the Suns Classic Tourney was one of the best times. Holly was one of the captains on her varsity volleyball team and she was also on the 1st ream All Conference in Volleyball.

Throughout high school Holly has maintained a 4.0 gpa and was named an Illinois State Scholar. After high school, Holly plans to go to Colorado Christian University (CCU) where she will get her degree in Health Sciences so she can attend grad school for physical therapy. Eventually, Holly hopes to get her doctorate in physical therapy while specializing in aquatic therapy. Although physical therapy will be her career, Holly plans to make youth ministry her life and passion. She will minor in youth ministry while at CCU which will help her when she volunteers with teen ministry.
