La Harpe City Council

by Christy Kienast-The Quill

The La Harpe City Council met on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall.

The police committee announced that there is a slight problem with the new part-time officers when it came to scheduling.

The two part-time officers that were hired, also work swing shifts at their other jobs. The council agreed to hire a 3rd part-time officer to help with the swing shift problem and vacations.

The hiring of this third part time officer will not cost any more money for the city.

A member of the community offered memorial money in the hopes to get some gates and an arch at all three entrances of the cemetery. More information will be gathered for the next meeting.

The fiscal year for the city ends at the end of April.

A resolution was passed for the 2012 Summerfest Parade. The parade will be on Saturday, July 28th at 11:00 a.m. The parade time was changed due to a conflict with the Dallas City parade time.

The WCAZ kids games and advertising increased $25 to $425. The city has paid this in the previous years and agreed to pay them again this year.

National Nursing Home Week is May 13th-19th. The week is filled with special activities with a Wizard of Oz theme.

All council members were present.

Council members all agreed that the cemetery looks very nice.

The meeting was adjourned around 7:25 p.m.
