Slup's Last Chicken Night

For years, eating fried chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes and all of the other scrumptious dishes served at the local eatery in Blandinsville has been a tradition.

Wednesday, March 2, 2011 was the last night you could get all-you-can-eat chicken from Slup's Bar & Grill. Formerly Duffy's Pub and the Hayloft, Ted Slupianek bought the small town business just 14 months ago.

Having retired and moved here from Bloomington, Ted says he "gave it his best shot."

Saturday night the kitchen closed for the final time.

Slupianek says with the economy the way it is and with food prices going up, he was forced to shutter the kitchen door part of his business where he has been losing money every month. Sadly, his best chicken night was his last with 173 customers coming in for dinner.
