Meet Your Neighbor

by Peggy Villwock-The Quill

Meet Carrie (Thompson) Cameron, born in Macomb in March of 1980 to parents Winston and Gloria Thompson.

Her grandparents are Mabel and the late Oscar Brown.

Carrie has lived all her life in La Harpe, graduating from both grade school and high school there. She graduated from La Harpe High School in 1998 and went to Carl Sandburg College in Carthage graduating there in 2000 with a degree in desktop publishing.

Carrie started off working at the Tastee Freez while in high school, then after college, she began working for the Journal Pilot in Carthage. After nine years there, she transferred to the Daily Gate City newspaper in Keokuk, IA, where she is still employed.

Carrie married John Cameron on September 8, 2000-one of the highlights of her life, she said.

Another memorable moment was the birth of their twin boys, Cruz Winston and Solon Bruce on November 17, 2010. She and John are very proud of their boys.

Carrie and John love to spend time on the river whenever they can. They also enjoy going to the races and spending time with each other and their boys.

One of Carrie's life goals is to visit all 50 states. She's up to 6 including Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. We all hope she gets to realize this dream.
