Some pretty visible signs of a new business in La Harpe can be seen at the east end of the city as contractors for the Dollar General store constructed a larger facility for the store.
According to La Harpe Mayor Ken Brown, the newly expanded business will be approximately 3500 square feet larger than the existing Dollar General store that is located along the highway across from R & D Foods.
"This means better access in the aisles plus more merchandise to choose from."
"Dollar General is a huge asset to La Harpe's citizens," the mayor said. "Hopefully it will draw more customers to town and maybe, even another business!"
The Dollar General is located in the newly approved Business District, and at this time, there will be no funds or extra taxes coming to the city from this endeavor."
Construction actually began the first part of January with completion scheduled for early May.
