IW Chargers Win Regional 76-51

Illini West High School girls team won the Regional 2A Basketball Championship at Farmington with a comfortable score of 76-51.

In the first game of Regional, the Chargers beat Monmouth-Roseville by a score of 60-42. The next day they faced their Midwestern host - Farmington and came away with a 76-51 win and the Regional plaque and a ticket to Sectional games at Manito.

Their first game at Sectional competition was last night (February 15th) against a tough Quincy Notre Dame team ranked 3rd in the state with a 26-1 record.

The Illini West girls went into the game with an impressive 26-2 record and are ranked 6th among Illinois Class 2A schools.

The contest was the two teams first meeting of the season and reports came in last night that Notre Dame took the win 75-54 ending the girls chances for a Sectional title.

Notre Dame will face 2nd ranked Sherrard Thursday in the championship round.
