The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.

Congratulations In Order!

by Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher/Owner

What an honor when a person in our midst is honored in a special way. In March it was Master Farmers Ray Defenbaugh of Biggsville (Henderson County) and Terry Pope of Burnside (Hancock County), and now in April, Gladstone Postmaster Judy Carlson was named in Peoria last week as Illinois State Postmaster of The Year! We are so proud of her.

Believe me, all our postmasters need to be honored for the constant pressures and deadlines they meet and the important job they do in taking care of our mail. But then, for one of ours to be selected thee "Postmaster of the Year" over all these hardworking individuals, is quite a feat. I am constantly looking for a fun vacation spot to visit, but when it comes down to it, I agree with the late Bill Rutherford of Peoria Heights, my former corporate attorney who started Wildlife Prairie Park. There is no place like Illinois to call home. The former state head of conservation went on to say, "Someday, this will be the place everyone wants to live." Remember, Abraham Lincoln thought so, too.
