City Council Reminds Of La Harpe Christmas Open House This Saturday

The La Harpe City Council met for their regular meeting November 22, 2010 at 7:06 p.m. Petitions are still available for candidates wishing to run for offices of: Mayor, Treasurer, City Clerk, and Alderman for wards 1,2, and 3. These may be obtained from the city clerk, and require 25 signatures from registered voters in the city of La Harpe.

The La Harpe Christmas Open House is this Saturday with a Christmas parade down Main Street including Santa Claus, that will begin at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 27th. There are several activities including the annual Festival of Trees at the United Methodist Church, and lots of goodies and specials in businesses.

Present at the meeting were Aldermen: Todd Irish, Brian Lovell, Marcia Stiller, Michael Bennett, Vicki Burford, Darrell Kraft; Treasurer-Marcia Neff; City Clerk-Lucretia McPeak; and Mayor-Kenneth Brown.

Also present were: Dan Gillett, George Russell, Libby Stehn, and Doug Endres.

There was a public hearing on November 22nd at 6:45 p.m., at City Hall for the Business District.

The next selling date for stickers will be Friday, November 26th , from 3-5 p.m. at city hall. The pick up dates are the first Friday of every month, for T.V.'s, and paint cans, but they must have a sticker on them.

Next month, the selling dates will be on Tuesday, December 21st, from 3-5 p.m., at city hall.

Aldermen Burford and Stiller showed the council the wreath they made on behalf of the city council, for the Wreath auction to be held on November 30th, at the nursing home. The proceeds will go to St. Judes.

The meeting adjourned at 7:54 p.m.. The next scheduled council meeting will be December 13, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Meetings are open to the public.
