Illini West Board Meets

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education of Illini West HSD #307 was held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010.

Students of the Month for April, Aurora Little and Mitchell Beals, were honored. An overnight trip for the boys basketball team to Vandalia, Illinois on June 21 and 22, 2010 was approved.

The Student/Parent Handbook and the Coaches Handbook for 2010-11 were approved.

These handbooks will be available for viewing soon on the IWHS web site (www.illiniwest.org).

The resignations of Student Council sponsors Connie Flesner and Peggy Latherow were accepted, with appreciation for their years of service in this capacity.

The resignation of Jim Unruh as Head Wrestling Coach was accepted with appreciation for his work in the initial year of this sport.

Matthew Miller was employed as a bus driver, and Brian Lafferty was hired as a summer custodian. A three-week extended contract was approved for Rhonda Miller, Administrative Assistant for Special Services, for the 2010-11 school year.

A hearing will be held at the June 9th meeting at 7:30 p.m. regarding a Resolution authorizing the transfer of monies into the transportation fund.

The custodial, secretarial and administrative staff at the high school building will work four ten-hour days during the months of June and July (Monday through Thursday).

The Fee Schedule for 2010-11 was approved. The only change in the schedule is the addition of a one time fee of $25 to participate in any extra-curricular activity for the year.

The board made the decision not to participate in the current application process for the Federal Race To The Top Program.

A Summer Enrichment Program for at-risk and special education students will be held if LAN funding can be procured.

A contract was approved with ETC Computerland out of Quincy to continue to provide technology service to the District through June, 2011.

A bid to upgrade the security camera system was approved for the installation of six additional cameras.
