Fishing In The Woods

-by David Conard, The Quill

Late Tuesday afternoon Jeff Todd, Trevor Hostetter, and Kendal Worley from the Lomax area were heading into the woods to go fishing. It is not their usual fishing hole.

The Mississippi was out of its banks due to the rising water that is to crest Thursday, but not threatening the levee. It left fishing as a great alternative to filling sandbags as happened in the Great Flood of 2008.

The Lomax landing was under water, but that didn't slow these fishermen down. They just launched their boat in from the side of the road and headed out.

The community will take a sigh of relief comes Thursday once the river starts to recede with hopes there are no more heavy rains to our north.
