Biggsville Discusses Clean-Up; Hires Heather Lant, As Village Treasurer

The regular scheduled May 5th board meeting of the Village of Biggsville was held at the Community Building at 7:00 p.m..

Bob Onion's motion to hire Heather Lant as new village treasurer to replace Gloria Jones after 24 years of service was approved and the village board welcomed Heather as the new village treasurer.

Brian Cochran's motion that a $30 deposit to use the Community Building be charged along with the $40.00 usage charge with the $30.00 deposit to be returned after inspection by Heather Lant, Village Treasurer was approved.

It was announced that special Recycling Days for the residences of Henderson County at the Twomey Company truck parking lot outside of Gladstone will be June 4, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and June 5, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This special recycling will be for used electronics, unwanted medications, and white goods and scrap metals.

Under Old Business the board heard:

There will be no fee charged for appliances for cleanup day.

Gloria Minard will get estimates for one dumpster for the cleanup day.

A motion for Gloria Minard to get a dumpster at the lowest cost was approved

Reports

Under Parks and Recreation Jeff Lant asked about getting soap and towel dispensers for the bathrooms at both parks. The board stated that those supplies would be like any other supplies that are needed for the parks.

Bob Onion stated that the ball park needed sand and the swing set area needed either sand or mulch.

Lant will use the left over sand from last winter for the ball field.

Brian Cochran made a motion to purchase mulch for the swing area for Lindo Park and seconded by Bob Onion. Roll was called and all presented voted to accept motion.

Spring cleanup for the residence of the village was to be held on June 5, 2010 from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

In the Zoning report: Ron White got a building permit for $11.00.

Those present were: Brian Sterett, Village President presiding, and Trustees - Brian Cochran, Bob Onion and Gloria Minard; Clerk - Cindy Rhinehart and Treasurer - Gloria Jones and Visitors - Gene Roark, Jeff and Heather Lant and Kathy Curtiss. Absent were Jennifer Hopkins and Renee Sprock.

April 2010 minutes were circulated by Cindy Rhinehart, Clerk and then approved as presented and Gloria Jones, Treasurer, presented the Treasurer's report which was approved, and the board approved the paying of all bills as read.
