Stronghurst City Hall Will Be Remodeled

At Monday nights regular Stronghurst Village board meeting a bid from Robbie Root in the amount of $20,351 was accepted for the remodeling and siding of Stronghurst City Hall.

This will include an approximate 5'4" x 12"8" office for the newly formed police department plus up grading the bathroom to meet ADA compliance".

The board signed a contract with Test Inc, who has been hired to help with the water plant testing until village employees receive their license.

The board voted to hire board member Mike Nelson to be a full time employee of the village. Nelson will be on a 90 day probation period and can be terminated at will. He will begin his duties on April 19, 2010, at a wage of $11.00/hour.

The board also increased the salaries of Ronnie Gittings to $13/hour and Lou Ann Nortrup salary to $9/hour.

Larry Hensley has resigned from being chairman of the zoning committee. Ron Schaley has accepted the position as chair, along with Chris Cook and David Vancil, who represent the board. They are now looking for one more member for the committee.

Police Chief Gary Smith said they would be would be increasing their hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day. They will also be putting in more hours during the week of the fair.

No date has been set for City Wide Yard Sales or Village Clean Up Day.

The next regular scheduled meeting will be on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
