Letter to Editor

Dear Editor,

The inbox in my e mail program has been full of e mails about political candidates.

Much like the political ads we see and hear over the airwaves some of these e mails are not true.

Despite this, many Christians are perpetuating these lies by either forwarding the e mails to their friends or telling others about them.

Has the 9th commandments been forgotten?

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor (Ex. 20:16).

What does this commandment mean, especially in this political season? It means we are not to bear false witness to anyone, which includes half-truths, gossip, and slander. All lying and deceit are works of the devil.

Please encourage all your friends to practice this commandment and to remember it when listening to political ads or reading political e mails.
