Raritan Baptists Will Be Celebrating 150 Years, Sunday

In the homespun village of Raritan, on Christmas Eve in 1858, Raritan Baptist Church was established.

Raritan Baptist Church has seen many family and community events and gatherings over the past 150 years. This Sunday, November 16, 2008, Interim Pastor Dan Ashton and the congregation welcome everyone to attend these special times of celebration, memories, refreshments and fellowship.

At 9:00 a.m. registration for the celebration will begin. Sunday morning worship service begins at 9:30 a.m.

Reverend Ralph Deming, a former pastor will be bringing the morning message.

A piano concert performed by Chris Geiser starts at 1:30 p.m.

The afternoon celebration service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with greetings from area churches and former pastors.

The Raritan Baptist Church Choir will be bringing several specials of favorite choir songs during this time.

The church will be transformed to a Christmas setting to recognize the actual time the church was established.

The church looks forward to the following former pastors being in attendance: David Arnold, Ralph Deming, Paul Holder, and Dan Vitatoe. David Baldwin will represent his father, former pastor, Dean Baldwin.

Following the afternoon celebration, cookies and punch will be enjoyed during a fellowship time.

Memorabilia displays in the chapel area will include wedding pictures of couples married in the Raritan Baptist Church through the years.

Anyone in possession of a wedding picture taken in the Raritan Baptist Church is invited to bring it to the celebration and display it.

Raritan Baptist Church Cookbooks, Christmas ornaments, shirts and church plates will be available in the nursery.
