Cannon Dedication Ceremony-May 24th

by: Shirley Linder, Quill Editor

The Village of Stronghurst has set Friday, May 23rd for spring clean-up day. Residents are reminded to have items out the night before to ensure pick up.

Chris Cook reported there will be a dedication ceremony for the cannon restoration and the memorial bricks being laid at the park on Saturday, May 24, 2008 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Dinner will be provided after the ceremony in the shelter house.

The public is invited to attend.

The installation of the new bathroom at the park has begun and should be completed later this month.

Ralph Tatge and Richard Clifton, on behalf of the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center, told board members they are in the process of expanding their facility to include an assisted living unit.

They would like the village to provide them with approximately 300' - 350' of 8" water main service in order to comply with state regulation. The matter was tabled until June when Tony Anderson will bring a cost estimate from McClure Engineering.

Eric Chockley reported to the board he had checked on the leasing of a lawn mower, as opposed to buying, and is prohibitive. He stated the village only purchases a new mower every 10 years.

Tony Anderson and Eric have been testing different mowers to find one that suits the village's need. The matter was tabled until month.

Bryan Kane approached the board regarding the parking of vehicles on the side of the street at his residence.

It was reported that larger farm equipment was having difficulty passing if there were vehicles parked there.

There is no ordinance against parking on the side of the street, but Bryan said he will be more mindful of vehicles parked there and try to keep them back.

He also had a complaint about a resident with accumulated trash across the alleyway behind The Antiquity.
