Stronghurst Village Board Swears In New Trustee

NEW PARK BATHROOM

Mayor Eric Chockley called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mike Nelson of Stronghurst was sworn in as a village trustee Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Village of Stronghurst regular board meeting. Mike replaces Cory Fox, who has resigned due to taking a job out of town.

Lawrence Neff made a motion to approve a permanent self-contained bathroom facility at the village park at a cost of $14,000. David Vancil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Mayor Chockley had checked on the costs to fix the old mower and found out it would be $2,000-$2,500.

Tony Anderson received some bids on a new mower but is still waiting on some other bids. No action was taken and the decision was but was scheduled for the April meeting.

Discussion was held on reviewing properties that need cleaning up this spring.

Angela Myers reported that the Village clean-up day is scheduled for Friday, May 23rd. She also mentioned that she hopes that Waste Management will be correcting our billing for garbage pick-up.

In other business, it was mentioned that landscape fabric and mulch need to be purchased for flower beds, also need to start thinking about flowers for boxes and at the park.

The Athletic Boosters currently have $12,000 set aside from the Bonnie Schmitz memorial.

They are planning to build a concession stand with bathroom facilities on what used to be the elementary playground area.

They have asked the village to supply water lines for the project. The village will supply the labor involved and the boosters will supply the materials.

Tony Anderson reported that he is waiting on water samples for well #1. He also mentioned that our lab contract needs to be renewed.

Drue Waterman will be working as a part-time summer employee again this year.

Minutes of the February meeting were approved by a motion from Lawrence Neff, seconded by David Vancil. Motion carried.

ĘThe bills presented for payment were approved by a motion from David Vancil, seconded by Tony Griepentrog. Motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. by motion from Lawrence Neff.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on April 7th, 2008, at the Village Hall.
