Spotlight: Tink's Restaurant Busy In Blandinsville

by Diana Spilker, Quill Staff

For over 100 years Tinks Restaurant has had its doors opened at 215 South Main Street in Blandinsville.

Currently, it is under the management of Diana Mealey of La Harpe who took over the business in June 2004, when her current position at the Tastee Freeze in La Harpe closed. Tinks is open daily with lunch specials, fast food items, chicken plates, shrimp plates and homemade pies. The restaurant is also open with nightly specials on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.

Diana says that the most rewarding part of her job is "being able to keep that spirit of hometown pride".

As the former newspaper girl for the area, she can visit daily with some of her customers that she does not see often in La Harpe.

"I am keeping a legacy going. With over 100 years of service, I have some regulars who have been coming since the doors opened many years ago."

Diana has one son, Blake Mealey, who is currently attending SIUE as a freshman. Blake is studying Business Administration and Diana hopes that he will help her out with the business aspects of the restaurant industry.

In her free time, Diana loves to go shopping and is an avid St Louis Cardinals fan.

She states "without my staff of hard working employees, none of this would be possible". So, come on over and have dinner with the gang in Blandinsville.

Tinks Restaurant is open Sun-Sat 5:30a to 1:30p & Wed-Fri 5:00p to 8:00p
