Meet Your Neighbors

Meet your neighbor Bobby Knowles of Carthage, formerly of Webster.

Bobby is the son of Robert and the (late) Irene Knowles.

Bobby was born at the Carthage Memorial Hospital in 1951.

He attended Fountain Green Grade School and graduated from La Harpe High School in 1969 then graduated from Illinois State University in 1973 with a degree in Ag.

Bobby returned home in 1974 to go into farming and still runs the family farm.

Bobby and his wife, Kathy, were married in 1985 and they have two children, Heather Knowles, age 20, and she attends WIU and Heath Knowles, age 17, and he attends Illini West at Carthage.

Bobby and his family have been on many vacations like, South Carolina, Colorado Springs, but their favorite is Myrtle Beach.

Bobby is very active in community service and he served on the Fountain Green Fire Department for 17 years, the Hancock County Farm Bureau for 20 years, Hancock County Extension Council for 6 years, and the ISU Alumni Ag Board for 8 years.

Bobby is on the Foundation 4-H Committee and still helps with the Hancock 4-H Sheep and Goat Show.

Bobby also has served as trustee and is an elder for the United Presbyterian Church in Fountain Green.

Bobby loves being around Fountain Green and the Webster area and likes all the church activities.

Bobby enjoys going to football and basketball games. He especially likes watching high school and college games and once in awhile he likes to take in a Missouri game.

When he has time he likes to go deer hunting and fishing. The best times are spent with his family.
