METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH OF STRONGHURST: The first sale of lots in Stronghurst was in Feb. 1888.

In the following autumn the Methodists opened services in the opera house.

The town company donated lots for a church site with the following trustees: W.E.Hall, Jay Foote, Dr. I.F.Harter, C.P. Davidson, and T.D. Cooper.

Their new house of worship was dedicated in 1889 and a parsonage built in 1896. In early times the congregation was part of a circuit sharing a minister.
