Unlucky Friday brings Sheriff Some Good Luck

100 Pounds Of Pot Uncovered

Henderson County Sheriff Mark Lumbeck reports that a search warrant has uncovered 100 pounds of pot.

Steven P. Benson, 43, of 961 35th St. Smithshire, was arrested on his "unlucky" Friday, July 13 at 1:30 p.m. 3 1/2 miles Southwest of Raritan, for Unlawful Manufacturing of Cannabis 5,000 Grams, Cannabis Trafficking and Unlawful Production of more than 20 Cannabis plants.

Sheriff Lumbeck said that a search warrant was executed on Benson's property Southwest of Raritan, by Henderson County Sheriff's Deputies, Warren County Sheriff's Deputies, Illinois State Troopers and State Police K-9 Unit.

Officers found over 30 growing Cannabis plants and harvesting equipment.

Officers also discovered about 90 pounds of Cannabis in plastic bags.

Sheriff Lumbeck said that this is one of the largest seizures of Cannabis in Henderson County in many years.

The Cannabis seizure is worth a street value of $80,000.

Benson is being held in the Henderson County Jail on $250,000 bond.
