Heat Ran Over By Mustangs

by Coach Will Bavery

It was rodeo week last weekend in Ft. Madison, and I think some of the bigger and faster Mustangs skipped the rodeo and came to Biggsville to play football. The Unity Mustangs that showed up really did a number on us to the tune of 46 to 28.

Unity got out of the gate fast with a 72 yard scoring run by their tail back Lair on the first play from scrimmage. The Heat's offense was able to move the ball against the Mustangs, but was stopped by two fumbles.

Unity's offense was unstoppable by the Heat on this Friday evening. The combination of strong running and long passing were just too much for the Heat.

The Heat did close the score to 26 to 14 on two Andy Chockley scores, but the Mustangs hit a 44 yard scoring pass with 4 seconds in the half to go up 33 to 14.

Mendon would add 13 more points in the second half. The Heat picked up 14 points on the running of Sean Webb who scored on a 66 yard run and a 4 yard run.

Sean was our leading rusher for the game with 117 yards. The big rusher in the game was the horse from Mendon with 268 yards. He was a fine running back.

This week, the Heat travel to Havana to take on the Ducks. Havana is coming off a 70-0 win over Athens. They feature a big fullback, a fast tail back, a quarterback who can throw, and fast receivers.

If that sounds like the last team we played they really are except that I believe they have a stronger defense than Mendon.

We have to work this week on getting our defense going again and striving to play perfect ball. We are going to put last week's performance behind us, and blame it on the full moon.
