Shots Reported In Stronghurst

Stronghurst- Bob Hamilton reported to the Quill Office that 11 shots had been fired at the old Jarvis Building north of Fox's Tire Service in Stronghurst, on Halloween day, October 31, around 11:30 a.m.

Two men were replacing a door on the building that day but had left the building before the shooting.

According to Hamilton, ten shots were fired through the west windows and 1 shot through the east window.

Bill Phillips was driving around the curve on North Broadway street, heading for Highway 94, when he heard shots. Thinking the Ford truck he was driving might have been hit he stopped and checked his vehicle.

Scott Shaner, an employee at Fox Tire Service, also reported hearing shots fired but neither of the men saw a vehicle or person. The shots appeared to have been shot from west of the Fox storage or from the road south of the west door of the Jarvis building.

The incident was reported to the Henderson County Sheriff's Department, Hamilton said.
