La Harpe-Davier Health Care

by Melanie Sharpe-Lessen, Quill Reporter

Lori Lewis is activities director for the La Harpe Nursing Home located on 101 North B Street.

The nursing home has been in operation since 1977. Currently there are 35 residents residing there.

Lori has been activities director at the center for a year and a half.

The best aspect of her job is spending time with the residents.

They do craft projects, and play bingo, to name a few of the activities Lori participates with them.

Lori lives in Stronghurst, were she has lived since she was in the third grade. This is not the first nursing home Lori has worked for. In previous positions she has worked as a CNA, but she prefers her current job as activities director.

The project that Lori is currently working on is the Fall Bazaar, scheduled for Friday, October 28th, from 9am-4pm.

The bazaar is to raise funds for all of the different activities the residents participate in throughout the year.

The community is encouraged to stop by the Nursing Home on the 28th to purchase baked goods, crafts and participate in raffles.

Please make a point of attending because the proceeds go to a great cause.

Also, stop in and look at the gift catalogs, to place an order, with the proceeds also going to the activities fund. The public can order through the catalogs until October 7th.
