The Stronghurst Village Board meet Monday, September 12th and discussed health insurance, waste management and recycling, property issues, purchase of office equipment and a furnace for the village shop.
The Rehabilitation Grant Process fee for Kevin Wiehardt, Community Action Director of Western Illinois Regional Council Community Development Assistance Program was approved of $800 and documents were signed approved him to write the grants.

In absence of Mayor Eric Chockley, Tony Griepentrog conducted the meeting.
Dave Schaab of Waste Management agreed to change recycling day to every other Friday instead of Wednesday. They will send out post cards to all water customers notifying them of this and the start date. They also agreed to extend their contract from September through November. They also will do another survey at their expense which can be mailed or scouts or service organization can deliver at a 60 cents a piece rate. Waste Management also will offer a Senior Citizen Discount after the number of seniors are established.
City Wide Fall Clean-Up was set for the last Friday in October on the 28th and will repeat in the Spring.
"Remember garbage doesn't sleep and neither do we," Schaab said as he left.
Cory Fox said the County Highway Dept. would flatten the ditches near the elevator on the block of Fox Tire saying it would help rid the rats from the ditches at a cost of $500 or less.
Tony Anderson said the school wants new no parking zone signs and bus loading signs. They would like to change the no parking area to a Bus loading area and have no parking 8-4 across from the circle drive, They also want a student drop off area where they roll out a sign.
Lawrence motioned the village pay for the signs, seconded by Angela. David Vancil said they need to check with Doris to get her approval before putting no parking signs along her property.
Lawrence said the Presbyterian Church is offering their church manse for use for a displaced Hurricane Katrina victim and Richard Knutstrom was asking if the village could assist with water hook-up etc, The village voted to fore go the hook-up and six months water and trash pick-up which can be negotiated again in 6 months.
The old house of Don Morris that was being taken down was discussed.
The board said that they do not pay for any stump removal. Residents must pay for that.
Gene Fox's double charge for trash containers at his business was taken care of.
It was approved to buy a new Dell computer up to $650 with the additional of a FAX machine.
Scott Ford asked what the board wanted in the way of furnaces for heating the shop before winter comes. Scott is to check into getting a more efficient unit.
A health insurance plan was heard discussing the benefits of the current John Deere plan and an improved Blue Cross Blue Shield policy. Village employees discussed the plans with the representative and decided to stay where they were until the end of the year when deductibles will start over again.
A firm in Texas is still working on a bid for the water plant.
