Cambridge Outscores The Heat 47-28

The eighth ranked Cambridge Vikings were just too good of team for the Heat to handle last Friday evening.

The Vikings used their strong running game to set up their flawless execution of their passing game. The Vikings picked up four of their touchdowns through the air. The Heat continued to show some improvement in their overall play, but turnovers and missed assignments continue to plague the teams showing.

The Heat did provide their fans with some hometown excitement with Darick Clark making an 85 yard kickoff return touchdown and Andy Chockley and Calvin Covert adding three receptions for touchdowns. Andy got two and Calvin got one.

Defensively the Heat continued to get great play from Abe Chockley. Ross Gullberg and Andy Chockley turned in some really good plays at linebacker.

We are getting more and more good defensive plays, but we are still having too many breakdowns in assignments to handle the good teams that we are playing.

This Saturday the Heat travel to Arcola to take on the Purple Riders. Arcola is a school steeped in football tradition. We will have our work cut out for us.

The underclass programs of Heat football are progressing well with only a rash of finger and hand injuries slowing our progress. The fresh-soph sports a 2 and 1 record with their only loss being in the first game to United.
